What happened this week . . .

Well I am in a bit of a lazy mood today so it will be a bit shorter-
This week was pretty solid: the students all came back so that town isn't dead anymore and we have a lot of work to do. Although we aren't actually the YSA (young single adults) elders we are going to be helping them a lot because they live far away.  I just love the feel of being on a college campus. It is pretty fun.
-Cool story of the week. We were teaching the friend of one of our members. She is way cool but struggles with some mental issues and mild schizophrenia. I felt impressed to promise her that as she read the Book of Mormon those problems would go away. It came true and now she loves the Book of Mormon and her friend has the opportunity to baptize her this Saturday. We are so excited for her!
We are also just starting to teach a family that is friends with a YSA. The mom has been going through a lot and just sent her son to juvy. There has just been so much chaos in her life and it was amazing to see that while we were all with her she seemed at peace and had hope. She committed to come to church next week.
One of the recent reactivated members (q Chains for those of you who know) has been preparing to serve a mission and is progressing sooooo well. It is great to see. Almost all the rest of the YSA group is preparing to serve a mission.   I love it!   Missionary work really can solve all of the problems in our lives, whatever they may be, because we receive an increased measure of the Spirit, come closer to our Father in Heaven and loose sight of our selves while serving others and seeing how much joy has come into their lives.   It's the truth!
At a recent eating appointment.  Breakfast for dinner!

Gotta love getting a sweet stash of treats and socks from a friend!
I love you all and hope everything is going great!

Ice Storm

I guess the most exciting thing that happened this week was the weather. Friday-Sunday everyone was expecting the worst ice storm in 10 years   we had a lot of freezing rain that got everywhere.  There was a solid sheet of ice on our truck all the time   and all of the trees and plants were covered in ice.  It was actually pretty cool looking.  I think I slipped and almost fell about 6 times.  But the good news is that while everything was frozen the roads were clear so it ended up not being too bad.
One miracle though from the ice was that we went tracting for a while (in the freezing rain) and we actually got let in to a home and taught the Restoration(that's a first for me)! They liked it and said we could come back. Just a cute little family with a 9 month old girl.  So we are excited for them. Also this week we got 2 Church Headquarters referrals-I haven't had one of those since last Easter when they changed how they were submitted.
So it has been a pretty awesome week.
We also had a Zone training meeting this week and interviews. Those are always a great experience.
Something that we have started to apply is a principle taught by Elder Ballard In a talk Write Down a Date.  (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1984/10/write-down-a-date?lang=eng)
I hope you can all read that and start trying it out. It is a pretty amazing experience to see the Lord's hand in our daily lives.
Hope you all are doing well!

PS - Cold Weather Tracting Tip
Wear gloves and put a golf ball in the glove
hands stay warm and you get a good solid knock

15 months!

It has been a pretty good week here in Pittsburg again.
We got some snow a few days ago and it has been decently cold.  We went tracting in 6 degree weather so that was fun.  We had a really busy day Tuesday with transfers. We drove a lot and did a lot of waiting so it was a long day. We finally got Elder Greenwood all moved out and their new apt pretty well set up.  It is nice to just have 2 of us in our apt again: it was getting pretty cramped.   We don't have a lot of investigators right now but we are starting to work with the ward more and it is really cool to see their support.
My hands are really cold right now and it is hard to type.
We have interviews tomorrow so I am excited for that and ready to get back to work after a bit of a slow spot around the holidays
Hope you all are doing well and have a great new year!

Happy Holidays

I hope you have all had a great week!  It has been pretty good here in Pittsburgh.
We got transfer calls last night.  I will be staying with elder wright and elder greenwood is going to open up the other area we have been covering.  It is pretty exciting.   I am just glad that we don't have to have 3 people sharing the same bathroom anymore ;)
This week has been kind of slow. Not too much teaching.  We have been spending a decent amount of time in the small towns getting to know some less active members.  We got about 20 lbs of deer meat yesterday so trying to find stuff to do with that
Besides that nothing too exciting to report on
Love you all and hope you are doing well!

Something about this makes me want to eat KFC.

Wrapping presents at the mall.

Not sure what that is . . .but it's not KFC.
